Today our friend, Tobi Fairley, posted the first part of a series on Reviving Traditional. There is a comfort associated with classic pieces yet most of us do not want them to look 'traditional'. Those of us who love classic things want rooms that feel fresh and modern. Hickory Chair is a great source for classic pieces that you, like Tobi, have the ability to personalize to be what you aspire. Want classic traditional, no problem. Want traditional with a modern twist? No problem. If you can imagine it, we will do our best to make it.
In Tobi's post "Reviving Traditional with Tobi Fairley", she has selected various Hickory Chair pieces. We love the blue color scheme. the mix of the fresh paisley adds soft freshness to the masculine navy blue curtins. In this photograph from her post, she has selected the2418-00 Occasional Chair. We do not know what year the chair was first made, but we have it photographed in our 1930 catalog!
Tobi's interpretation of this classic form includes the fresh Hickory Chair fabric, mixed with a dark finish and lastly, as a special construction for her, we have trimmed the chair with welt trim instead of the standard nail head trim. She has given this piece a fresh modern attitude!
Do you have a room or piece to share with us?
