Recently some beautiful pictures were shared with us from Jane (Cubby) Derby the owner of J. Covington Interior Design. She is a talented designer based out of historic Portsmouth, New Hampshire. They have a retail shop as well as a design firm that has created inspirational interiors all over New England and beyond. They have a web site and blog, The Look You Love, that shares their projects, events and new arrivals. We appreciate Cubby and her team for their support of our workroom in Hickory, North Carolina.
Their ability to see the classic forms made in our workroom dressed in beautiful finishes and fabrics is why families trust Cubby and her associates.
Cubby's client wanted a peaceful atmosphere in their home. She combined natural linens and white paints to create a very serene interior. In the top image, a Lindsay Chair was selected with an optional throw pillow in a crewel fabric. What is not visible is if she chose the Lindsay Chair with or without casters. In the dining room picture, Cubby mixed vintage Chippendale Side Chairs with Suzanne Kasler's Piedmont Dining Table. She chose a combination of the Scrubbed Ash finish for the top and the base was painted in Birch finish. For host chairs she turned to Suzanne Kasler's Collection once again for the Chastain Chairs. The Chastain Chairs are available with an optional slipcover which Cubby asked that we make full length instead of being a mini skirt length. To add a touch of detail and personalization for her client, she asked that we create a skirt border from another fabric. The slip cover is fully lined with invisible zippers that makes it look almost if it was upholstered instead of slipcovered.
It is the ability to personalize pieces that makes Hickory Chair special. The Piedmont Dining Table is available in over 70 different finishes as well as a variety of sizes. As special constructions the Piedmont base has been made counter, bar and even cocktail height while the top has been made in a wide variety of lengths and widths. Many upholstered pieces are available by the inch in width with height and depth options as special constructions. Pieces made with this type of personalization ship just within a few weeks from order. If you can get exactly what you want in just a few weeks, why would you ever settle for less?
